School Term Dates
These dates are for all Community and Voluntary Controlled Schools in Birmingham. For information about Voluntary Aided and Foundation Schools please contact each school directly.
The school year starts in September. There are 195 school days in each year (39 weeks). Five of these days are reserved for training for teachers and support staff, therefore pupils spend 190 days in school (38 weeks) each year.
The dates for each school year are known and published 12 months in advance. The term dates for the year 2012 - 2013 are expected to be published by July 2011.

There is an extra Bank Holiday for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Headteacher representatives and the Unions have decided to adopt this extra day on Tuesday 03 January 2012 instead of on the national Queen's Diamond Jubilee Bank Holiday on Tuesday 05 June 2012, which falls during the summer half-term and would therefore be 'lost' to schools as an extra day's holiday.
