Published: Thursday, 2nd May 2019

Birmingham City Council and Engie are celebrating after winning a prestigious national award.

The 2019 UK Housing awards, hosted by the Chartered Institute of Housing, were held last night (Wednesday 1 May) at the Grosvenor House Hotel in central London. The awards showcase the very best the housing sector has to offer.

Representatives from Birmingham City Council were in attendance with their partner, Engie. The company won 'Contractor of the Year' in recognition of the collaborative and creative approach taken to housing repairs and maintenance of the city's 62,000 council-owned properties.

Cllr Sharon Thompson, cabinet member for homes and neighbourhoods said, "I am absolutely delighted that Birmingham has been recognised for our commitment to providing good quality homes for our tenants. This is a really prestigious award from the housing industry and it demonstrates the true partnership approach that has been taken by our contractor, Engie."
