Lighting up the library for Baby Loss Awareness Week

Tuesday 15 October 2024

Library of Birmingham lit up blue and pinkAfter sunset on Tuesday 15 October, the exterior façade of the Library of Birmingham will be lit up blue and pink in support of Baby Loss Awareness Week.

Baby Loss Awareness Week is a way for everyone in the baby loss community and beyond to come together to remember and commemorate much-loved and missed babies.

The week also provides an opportunity to raise awareness of:

  • the impact of pregnancy and baby loss
  • the importance that bereavement support plays in the ongoing bereavement journey
  • the vital work that is needed to improve pregnancy outcomes and to save babies’ lives

Parents and families each find a way to remember their baby in a way that suits them. This can involve:

  • attending special services organised by a local hospital or a local support organisation
  • participating in events organised by a faith community
  • remembering alone in a way unique to the family

It is important to remember there is no right or wrong way and it can change as the years pass too.
