The City Council is pleased to announce that it has successfully secured a place at number 60 in the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index 2010, which lists the top 100 employers in the UK. This placing demonstrates our progress in being an employer of choice - however our drive for excellence will continue with work already starting on our 2011 submission.

Our LGBT Employee Network was also confirmed as one of 44 employee groups in the Top 100 organisations, that have been given one of the awards for Star performing network group. Visit the Sexual Orientation page for more information of our work in this area.

Following a Peer Challenge review in March 2009, the Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) confirmed that Birmingham City Council were benchmarked as an 'Achieving' authority under the Equality Framework for Local Government.
