2. REMINDER Ensuring Care Plans and Risk Assessments are Attached to Requests for Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) Assessments (Information for all Birmingham Contracted Care Homes)
Can providers ensure they attach care plans and risk assessments in every instance when requesting a DoLS assessment via the portal;
Please also ensure you complete all relevant parts of DoLS Forms 1 and 2 with as much information as possible. This will help Birmingham City Council’s DoLS Team to prioritise the referrals and carry out the assessments accordingly.
3. Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) - National Adult Social Care Recruitment Campaign (Information for all Providers)
The Department of Health and Social Care’s national recruitment campaign, ‘Make care your career’, is running between October 2025 and mid-March 2026. The campaign advertising will be live across a range of channels including social media, video on demand, radio and job boards, to inspire people with the right values to apply for careers in adult social care.
To make the most of the campaign:
- Post your vacancies on the campaign website so jobseekers can find your roles easily.
- Align recruitment activities such as job fairs or open days with the campaign period.
- Use free campaign resources, including posters and social media templates.
- Add the ‘Make Care Your Career’ logo to your materials to link with the national campaign.

The Birmingham Safeguarding Adults Board are holding a frontline Practitioner Forum about Self Neglect and trauma (see link below), and the obstacles front line Practitioners may face in Birmingham when working with adults with care and support needs, with a particular focus on prevention and safeguarding.

8. REMINDER Birmingham Safeguarding Adults Board (BSAB) - Birmingham Self-neglect and Hoarding Birmingham Multi-Agency Guidance and Procedures Workshop 18 November 2025 (Information for all Birmingham Providers)
BSAB are hosting a face-to-face Workshop about the use of the Birmingham Self-neglect and Hoarding Birmingham Multi-Agency Guidance and Procedures.
This guidance was implemented in Winter 2022 across Birmingham. BSAB are now in the process of reviewing these and would like to establish:
- The awareness of the Birmingham Self-neglect and Hoarding Birmingham Multi-Agency Guidance and Procedures
- How useful the guidance and procedures are
- Any barriers faced
The session is aimed at frontline staff and leaders from agencies across Birmingham who work with adults with care and support needs.
The session will be facilitated by Dr Carolyn Kus - BSAB Independent Chair and Ash Manzoor - BSAB Board Manager.
