1. Birmingham City Council – Slides from Care Home Provider Forum 22 May 2026 (Information for all Care Home Providers)

A care provider forum for bed-based / nursing care providers was held on Friday 22 May 2026. This session covered information relating to resources available to support care providers via the NHS, information regarding workforce management via Skills for Care, and information from Commissioning regarding how care provider risk factors are utilised to focus further quality support. There will be another session later in the year, with the topics to be covered yet to be determined. Care providers are encouraged to attend future sessions as these are an opportunity to raise and discuss common issues with fellow care providers.

2. REMINDER Care Quality Commission (CQC) - Draft Assessment Frameworks – DEADLINE 12 June 2026 (Information for all Providers)

The CQC’s proposals in their consultation ‘Better regulation, better care’ included moving away from a single assessment framework to separate frameworks that are more specific and relevant to the health and care sectors that they regulate. They have now developed an initial 4 draft sector-specific assessment frameworks for:

  • adult social care
  • mental health care
  • primary care and community services
  • secondary and specialist services (hospitals)

They would now like to hear your views about the draft frameworks. Your feedback will be used to further refine each framework ahead of testing this summer. Please use the links below to read the proposals and give your view. The period for sharing your feedback will close on Friday, 12 June 2026.

4. REMINDER CONSULTATION Birmingham City Council – Ageing Well Strategy Consultation Survey - Closes 28 July 2026 (Information for all Birmingham Providers)

Birmingham Public Health have launched their Ageing Well Survey – and need your voice to help shape a Birmingham where everyone can age with dignity, independence and connection.

As our city’s older population grows, it’s vital that the services, spaces and support truly reflect what people need – and the best way to do that is by hearing directly from you. 5. REMINDER British Geriatrics Society - Free eLearning Course on Frailty (Information for all Providers)

The link below takes you to a comprehensive in-depth resource on frailty in older people. It is aimed at health and social care professionals who provide care and services for older people living with frailty. This e-learning course is funded by NHS England and is free until the end of June 2026.

7. REMINDER Skills for Care – Adult Social Care Workforce Data Set (ASC-WDS) Virtual Tour 16 June 2026 (Information for all Birmingham Providers)

The Adult Social Care Workforce Data Set (ASC-WDS) is a free online data collection service that covers the adult social care workforce in England.

The service helps care providers run their business and manage their staff training needs. It can also provide access to funding for staff training.

The data collected is vital to the Government, the Department of Health and Social Care, local authorities and the Care Quality Commission as it allows them to plan, fund and monitor the sector, cliick below to:

Supporting Individuals who are Self-Neglecting

The Birmingham Safeguarding Adults Board is hosting a Practitioner Forum for frontline workers to explore practice challenges in responding to self-neglect, including barriers to engagement and the complexities practitioners may face when working with adults with care and support needs in Birmingham, with a focus on prevention and safeguarding.

Places are limited and we ask that you only book if you are committed to attending this face-to-face session. If you do book and are not able to attend, please cancel the booking on Eventbrite. The BSAB reserve the right to prioritise and cancel bookings.
