Pay Policy Statement and Chief Officer Salary Disclosure
The Localism Act 2011 requires that as a local authority, Birmingham City Council publish an annual ‘pay policy statement’ to be effective for the financial year. The statement articulates the Councils policies towards a range of matters relating to the pay of the workforce, particularly chief officers as defined by the Act (S43) and the lowest paid employees. In doing so the statement aids transparency of the approach the Council takes in setting the pay of its employees. The provisions of the Act do not apply to employees of the local authority schools and therefore the pay of schools based staff is not taken into account within the statement. The statement below effective for the financial year 2013/14 and will be reviewed for the financial year 2014/15.
Information has also been provided about the Council's organisational structure showing chief officers within each directorate and their direct reports. These organisation structure charts within the document below are correct as at 31 March 2012.
