The Summer Reading Challenge, produced by The Reading Agency and delivered by libraries, runs from June to September.

Start your reading now! You can review the books you've read and check out other book recommendations for what to read next. Whether you take part in the challenge or not there's also the Book Sorter; to help guide you to your next read. You can chat to friends, play games, download and print activities with rewards. Time to be silly and keep the whole family engaged throughout the summer. It's all free.

This year a team of animal friends called the Silly Squad love to go on adventures and get stuck in to all kinds of funny books. The Challenge also features extra special characters designed by the award-winning author and illustrator Laura Ellen Anderson.

You can join the Silly Squad on a new adventure by setting your own personal reading challenge to complete this summer. The new online platform will help you keep track of your books, reviews and the rewards you unlock along the way.

As always, there will be loads of brilliant book suggestions to get you started, and tips on how you can keep reading even while we are closed. There are also have heaps of super silly activities, quizzes, videos, games and more to keep you entertained at home!

Read information about your child taking part in the Summer Reading Challenge and about using this website.

As libraries are closed, to help you take part in the challenge, Birmingham Libraries has made available eBooks and eAudiobooks that you can download from the library. To access this material your child will need an account with RBDigital. You can create their account using their library card number. If your child is not a member of the library then you can still join them up to the Library and use the SELFREG number you will be given.

Ebooks are also available through Overdrive. If your child can not currently access this service then please email their card number to: enquiries@libraryofbirmingham.com.
