Lighting up the library for World Mental Health Day

Tuesday 10 October 2023

Library of Birmingham lit up greenTonight the exterior facade of the Library of Birmingham will be lit up green in support of World Mental Health Day.

The Mental Health Foundation states:

'Every year we celebrate World Mental Health Day on 10 October. The theme for 2023, set by the World Foundation of Mental Health, is ‘Mental health is a universal human right’.

World Mental Health Day is about raising awareness of mental health and driving positive change for everyone’s mental health.

It’s also a chance to talk about mental health, how we need to look after it, and how important it is to get help if you are struggling.

We work towards good mental health for all; as everyone knows, prevention is better than cure. Everything we do is focused on protecting people's mental health.

Our work involves rigorous research and practical projects to identify what's most helpful, public information that empowers people to look after their mental health and influencing work to move policies in the right direction.

We know that some communities are at higher risk of mental health problems due to the social, economic, and environmental circumstances they find themselves in. Much of our work challenges these mental health inequalities by helping those at the greatest risk.'

Visit the Mental Health Foundation's website for full details of their work.

The Library of Birmingham's new Wellbeing Zone also has a display for WMHD.
