Local planning policy for Selly Oak is currently contained within the Selly Oak Local Action Plan, which has steered development since its adoption in 2001 and many of its proposals have been successfully implemented. However, circumstances have changed and new opportunities have prompted a review of the area; this draft Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) is the result of that review.

Our role is to encourage and guide development that will help make Birmingham one of the world's top cities a place where people increasingly want to live, work and visit and where businesses choose to invest.

This SPD expresses the vision for the area and sets out policies to guide development and support growth. It provides a context for co-ordinated and focussed investment that will improve the economic, social and physical wellbeing of the area, and the quality of life for all.

We invited your comments in July and August 2014 and we are currently considering the responses we received. We will be updating this page in due course.

A copy of the draft SPD, plan of the area and the Sustainability Appraisal is below.
