Historic parks and gardens and planning decisions

English Heritage maintains a Register of Historic Parks and Gardens. These are parks, gardens, and other planned open spaces that have special historic interest or significance.

Being a part of this register is something that must be considered during any planning application process, to assess the impact of any development on the landscape’s special character.
