Stories of Impact: How the Lord Mayor of Birmingham's Charity supports local charities

React charity

React helps families caring for children who are diagnosed with an illness that is life-threatening and has the potential to shorten their lifespan.

The Lord Mayor of Birmingham’s Charity are so grateful to React for their continuous, incredible work. We are glad to support them and help to provide vital equipment for terminally ill children. Their support is changing lives in Birmingham!

Read about Edward and Leah, two children whose lives have been transformed thanks to React and the Lord Mayor of Birmingham’s Charity.

Edward’s story

7-year-old Edward lives with Rett Syndrome and other health challenges.

He experiences severe discomfort due to tight muscles, making it hard to sit in a wheelchair for long periods.

Thanks to the Lord Mayor of Birmingham Charity’s award, React was able to provide Edward with a P-Pod and sensory toys, giving him the postural support he needs to sit comfortably and engage in play.

Leah’s story

2-year-old Leah has quadriplegic cerebral palsy and complex medical needs, including low muscle tone and dystonia.

Leah requires support in the bath and was recommended a Firefly Splashy Bath Seat by a physiotherapist, offering full support and safety.

With the Lord Mayor of Birmingham’s Charity’s help, React was able to provide the specialist bath seat.
