Lighting up the library to support Together with Refugees campaign

Monday 18 October

Orange lights on libraryTonight the exterior facade of the Library of Birmingham will be lit up orange in support of the Together with Refugees campaign.

The Together with Refugees website states:

How we treat refugees reflects who we are. At our best, we are welcoming to those facing difficult times. Yet too often people fleeing war, persecution or violence are treated with hostility in the UK, rather than compassion.

Together With Refugees brings together people and movements to stand against the divisiveness and hate directed at refugees. It will show that most people support a fairer, more effective and compassionate approach – and that refugees have always been part of the UK. It’s who we are.

We are a new coalition of organisations big and small who believe in showing compassion for people fleeing war, persecution or violence. Our members include grassroots, community and refugee-led groups, international development charities, trade unions and faith groups

The coalition was founded by Asylum Matters, British Red Cross, Freedom from Torture, Rainbow Migration, Refugee Action, Refugee Council and Scottish Refugee Council. Together, we are calling for a better approach to supporting refugees that is more effective, fair and humane.

Visit the Together with Refugees website for full details.
