December is Disability History Month
Thursday 3 December - International Day of People with Disabilities
It is Disability History Month and Thursday 3 December is International Day of People with Disabilities.
The 2020 theme ‘not all disabilities are visible’ focuses on spreading awareness and understanding of disabilities that are not immediately apparent.
To mark this special month and international day, we are highlighting a selection of books, available from Birmingham Libraries, that have characters and narratives that feature people with visible as well as hidden disabilities.
In the Children's Library at the Library of Birmingham we have a collection called "When a Book Might Help" featuring a range of titles that explore difference and increase understanding of the life experience of people with disabilities.
