Tonight, Wednesday 14 October, the exterior of the Library of Birmingham will be lit up Green to support Keep Britain Tidy's #GoGreenForParks campaign.

"Keep Britain Tidy fights for people’s right to live and work in places they can be proud of and prosper in. But we also celebrate the great parks and beaches that we all benefit from through our awards programmes.

Our Green Flag Awards improve the quality of parks, our Blue Flag and Seaside Awards recognise the country’s best beaches and the Keep Britain Tidy Award rewards the cleanest places in our towns and cities.

With the support of our partners, our Care projects work with volunteers who are improving the environment on their doorstep. From street to sea, we are improving places close to you every day.

The Green Flag Award® scheme recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of recreational outdoor spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.

Winning a Green Flag Award® brings with it a wealth of benefits, from the status of being affiliated with a prestigious awards programme through to tangible benefits such as recognising and rewarding staff, promoting your site and sharing good practice.

Applications are made on an annual basis with each site receiving a detailed feedback report following an assessment by one of our team of industry professionals." From the Keep Britain Tidy website.
