Safer Internet Day February 6 2018

Safer Internet Day 2018 will be celebrated globally on Tuesday 6th February 2018 with the slogan “Create, Connect and Share Respect: A better internet starts with you”.

On Safer Internet Day hundreds of organisations across the UK will unite together to inspire a national conversation about using technology responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively.

The internet is an amazing resource which opens up a world of opportunities where children can play, learn, create and connect. But the internet is changing all the time, so how can you make sure your child’s staying safe? The NSPCC provides tools and advice which will help you keep your child safe.

Birmingham Libraries public computers are a part of Birmingham City Council network, and adhere to approved standards and legislation that govern public computers e.g. Information Governance and Data Protection. The City Council also applies strict criteria to what web sites can be accessed. Access to sites is blocked that would be in breach of the policies and standards held by the council, and therefore unacceptable to be accessed by either a child or adult.
