Hold an occasional market, car boot or fair

To complete this form you will need to provide a completed Covid Risk Assessment. You can use our template if you do not have one.

You will need to agree to our Terms and Conditions, as detailed below:

  • You must get approval from Birmingham City Council before holding any form of market or fair in Birmingham
  • You must apply for permission at least 28 days before the date of your event
  • Commercial car boot sales will not be permitted
  • You must pay a licence fee for each date you request once your event has been approved:
    • £54.60 for a charitable fair
    • £163.80 for a commercial fair.
  • Each consent is for a maximum of 50 cars or stalls. A fee of £1 for a charitable consent and £2 for a commercial consent per stall or car over the 50 limit will be payable after your event, This must be paid no later than 7 days after your event. If we do not inspect your event you must inform us if the number of stalls exceeds 50 and by how many.
  • Any person or organisation found to be contravening the above requirements will be prohibited from holding future events.
  • If your event requires a road closure, you will need permission from Highways before completing this form.
