Cllr Ian Ward, Leader of Birmingham City Council, has welcomed an announcement by the BBC today which will see more programming created in the region.

Cllr Ward said of the announcement:

“I am delighted that the BBC is committing this investment into our region. Birmingham and the West Midlands has a strong creative industry, and the BBC’s investment will help it to flourish and grow, creating new jobs, skills and opportunities for our citizens.

“As the youngest city in Europe, Birmingham has so much to offer, and it is fantastic to see that the BBC’s investment in our region includes an Apprentice Training Agency, as well as providing a new home for Newsbeat an expansion of BBC Three production in the Midlands.

“I look forward to working with the BBC, the WMCA and other local partners to ensure that the voice of the West Midlands is heard across the country.”
