Confirmation of Leader and Deputy Leader of Birmingham City Council

A meeting of the city council has today confirmed the appointments of Leader and Deputy Leader

Cllr Ian Ward has been confirmed as Leader of Birmingham City Council.

At the meeting in the council chamber Cllr Ward also named Cllr Brigid Jones as Deputy Leader of the council and appointed Cllr Carl Rice as Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Schools.

Other cabinet members remain unchanged, though two portfolios have been renamed: Value for Money and Efficiency is renamed Commercialism, Commissioning and Contract Management; and Transparency, Openness and Equality becomes Community Safety and Equalities.
