Why the project is working with Pakistani communities
Birmingham has the largest Pakistani community of any local authority in England, with 195,853 people, accounting for 17% of our residents in 2021.
There is limited data on the prevalence of headache and migraine in the Pakistani community in Birmingham. Due to a lack of understanding of the barriers to treatment, there is also a lack of information that specifically addresses the communities’ cultural needs.
To enable prompt diagnosis and effective treatment within this population, we want to enable:
- preventative approaches
- appropriate presentation
- effective communication of symptoms of headaches and migraine
This project aims to address this need.
