Story time

Birmingham virtual school are proud to partner with Storytime. They help us to support some of our youngest children with their literacy skills.

Storytime is one of the UK's leading kids magazines; packed with fairy tales, new stories, funny poems, awesome animals, myths & legends, gorgeous illustrations, puzzles, games and much more!

There are no adverts, no plastic toys, and each issue arrives in a special envelope, so children have the excitement of receiving their own post!

Storytime Magazine is written for primary aged children to encourage reading for pleasure through a variety of reading materials including stories, poems and literacy games.

They are the UK’s only story magazine and are one of the biggest magazines in the country for schools.

The content has a focus on traditional stories like fairy tales, fables and myths, which are on the UK National Curriculum, plus tales drawn from a wide variety of cultures to help children gain an appreciation for the world around them.

Birmingham Virtual School send out this magazine to all children in mainstream schools from reception – Year 4.

The magazine comes with a pack of learning resources that are made available to Birmingham Virtual School to support carers in developing reading skills with children at home.

We are one of 30 Virtual Schools in the UK who send out Storytime Magazine. Nationally one in six Looked After Children receive this magazine to support their reading.

Storytime are committed to reviewing and improving their content in order to impact on reading for young people and so also complete surveys each year to evaluate the impact on reading for pleasure with their subscribers.
