At Birmingham City Council, our aim is to work closely with parents and carers, together with your child’s early years setting, school or college, and other professionals, to achieve the best outcome for your child. 

This includes ensuring all children and young people in the care of Birmingham with a Special Educational Need or Disability (SEND) get the help they need early, and as easily as possible.

Birmingham City Council has a range of support services depending on the young person’s needs.

Birmingham Virtual School is committed to supporting our young people to get the right intervention to help them achieve their potential.

We do this by working with the team around the child to get the right strategies through a process of try and review.

Let us know if you need support in this area and we will ensure you are linked with the adviser who can help.

If you feel that your child has special educational needs and may need additional help, first talk your GP, health visitor, child’s teacher or to the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) at your child's, nursery or playgroup or school.
