Round 2 of the COVID-19 Discretionary Grant scheme is now open to Small and Micro businesses from 9am Monday 3 August and will close at 12pm on Monday 17 August 2020.
Please refer to the scheme eligibility criteria to check if you are eligible to apply as the scheme criteria has now been extended to allow more Birmingham businesses to apply for an award.
Completed applications will be processed on a first come first serve basis and it is therefore essential that all relevant evidence is submitted at the same time as completing the online application form.
Incomplete applications or applications with insufficient evidence will not be approved so we recommend reviewing the scheme criteria and have your evidence ready for submission.
The Discretionary Business Grant Fund (DBG) was first launched in June 2020 to help those small businesses that were ineligible for the Small Business Grant Fund and had suffered a significant fall in income due to the COVID-19 crisis.
Funding Round 1 resulted in nearly 2,000 DBG applications being processed and £4m of grant support awarded.
£6m remains in the DBG grant funding pot and the council is in a position to reopen the fund from the 3rd August for 2 weeks only. Whilst the first DBG Funding Round criteria matched that outlined in the Government’s DBG Guidance, we recognise that this resulted in some businesses being unable to apply in Round 1 because they did not match the eligibility criteria. To address this, we have made some changes to the eligibility criteria in Round 2 to enable more small businesses to access the grant funding.
