Overview
As part of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Faith leaders from across the city have worked closely with Birmingham City Council, local doctors and the NHS to support the massive effort to overcome the pandemic in Birmingham.
Since the start of the pandemic, regular meetings every 2 weeks were held between Birmingham City Council and Faith leaders. These meetings taught as a lot about what is important to communities and how we can help keep everyone safe during COVID-19.
We worked closely with representatives from the following faiths:
- Buddhism
- Christianity
- Eastern Orthodox
- Hinduism
- Islam
- Jainism
- Judaism
- Sikhism
Aim of faith group collaboration
The purpose of bringing the faith groups together was to raise awareness of COVID-19. They shared communications as trusted voices into their respective communities, with a focus on sharing messages around safe movement of people around places of worship, self-isolation and testing and understanding of the COVID-19 vaccine programme.
