Enhanced local COVID-19 contact tracing service

To help reduce the number of infections in the city, the service will contact residents who have received a positive test result but could not be reached by the main NHS Test and Trace call centre.

If contact with the original case cannot be made by telephone within the first 24 hours of a positive result, the task will be passed to a ground team.

The ground team are made up of uniformed West Midlands Fire Service volunteers.

  • They will visit their address to obtain a working telephone number.
  • They will also conduct a welfare check.
  • The details will then be passed back to the call centre to continue the interview and contact tracing in order to minimise contact.

This service operates seven days a week in 42 wards. These are:
