Coronavirus (COVID-19):

Coronavirus remains a serious health risk. It’s important to stay cautious and help protect yourself and others. Please continue to follow national government advice.

Library services

Although legal restrictions were lifted on 19 July, Government advice is to continue to be cautious and emphasises the importance of taking personal responsibility.

From Monday 9 August we will start extending the opening hours of our libraries. Those libraries that were offering an Order and Collect service will reopen for browsing and computer access.

To help control the spread of the virus, when visiting Birmingham libraries we ask that you continue to:

  • Wear face coverings
  • Frequently wash hands
  • Be mindful of others’ space
  • Use test and trace when entering library buildings

The following libraries remain temporarily closed:

  • Aston library
  • Kingstanding library
  • Selly Oak Touchbase

Further updates will follow.

Mobile library

The Mobile Library has reopened for browsing. Read more about our Mobile Library and see the latest timetable.

Library services at home

Library Services at Home is open. For customers who feel comfortable with us entering their homes, we are happy to do so. We will continue to wear face coverings during our visits. For customers who still have concerns, we will continue with our Doorstep Delivery Service. Read more about our home service.
