Guidelines for displays

Here are some things to consider before making your application.

  • Our display spaces are not available for use by commercial organisations
  • Your display must meet the Library of Birmingham’s objectives, namely:
the display must be related to work with children, young people and families. These groups and/or their service providers should be involved in creating the display”
  • Displays may remain in place for no longer than half a term
  • You may request either spaces (double or triple) or both, but this is subject to availability.
  • Consider laminating your display materials to make them more durable
  • A member of staff will be on hand to show you where to put your display
  • Each panel should be ready mounted on backing paper (approximately 80cm tall and 90cm wide, not supplied), ready to be attached to our display boards (we can lend you a staple gun for the purpose)
  • Do not use pins, or anything else which could cause injury to small hands, to attach materials to the backing paper
  • Include a little background information to say how and/or why you created the display and giving the name of your school/organisation
  • Make a banner to span the double/triple display boards
  • If your children put their names on the work, ensure first names only are used
  • We are happy to provide a range of appropriate books to display alongside your work, and will endeavour to keep them topped up for the duration of the display.

Note that we cannot accept any responsibility for loss of, or damage to, display materials submitted to us.
