The Domestic Abuse Team - With 76% of the vote

Since the Domestic Abuse Team was set up in June 2016, they have dealt with over 600 cases.  Their work directly helps safeguard and support victims as well as their families, and ensures that these vulnerable people can continue to live in their homes safely, or, be re-housed to a place of safety.  One victim said of the team ‘you helped me get my freedom, confidence and a safe place for me and my daughter – a new beginning’.

Public Health Apprentices Model

Concerned by the number of Birmingham’s looked after children, aged over 18, who aren’t in education or employment, Public Health, Children in Care Team and HR formed an ‘Apprentices’ partnership.  The team are supporting Birmingham’s care-leavers by providing real opportunities for them to gain the skills required for work through apprenticeship and internship opportunities. 

Street Scene East & Estate Team East

These two groups pulled together as one team when the responsibilities of the former Environmental Services was brought in-house.  Their focus has been to keep Housing land clean and free from fly-tipping as well as changing behaviours amongst tenants.  Using a variety of innovative projects, they have removed 592 tonnes of waste from the East quadrant, saved at least £31,000 and worked on over 100 clean-up projects.
