Ashted Circus

This scheme is now complete and has seen Ashted Circus converted from a roundabout to a signal-controlled crossroads, as well as the replacement of pedestrian subways with footpaths at road level and improved cycling provision.

Ashted Circus forms part of the north east section of the Birmingham ring road (A4540). It provides access to Aston University and Birmingham City University, Eastside, and the planned Curzon Street High Speed 2 station. The former roundabout suffered from traffic congestion and delays especially during peak commuting times.

The project is an important part of the long term, Birmingham Connected vision to support the growth of Birmingham by transforming the city’s transport network.

We are encouraging everyone to consider their travel choices, especially for shorter journeys, and use public transport, walk or cycle whenever possible.

Completion of these works was marked with an opening ceremony in February 2019. Read the news article about the completion.
