Next steps
City Housing is driving forward an ambitious programme to:
- improve homes
- strengthen communities
- enhance services for tenants and leaseholders across the city
Our priorities for 2025 to 2026
Priorities include:
Capital works
- An accelerated programme to bring all council homes up to EPC rating C by 2028, targeting 3,000 homes for retrofit improvements, such as roof replacements and window upgrades.
- Improving decency standards, particularly in high rise blocks, with year on year increases in kitchen, bathroom, window, and door replacements.
- Embedding early and transparent tenant engagement in every major project, to improve communication.
Repairs and maintenance
Finalising new repairs and maintenance contracts so that the new service is ready to start across the city in 2026.
Tenant communication
Improving communication with tenants and leaseholders through the City Housing monthly Tenant Focus newsletter, which:
- provides regular updates
- provides helpful advice
- promotes services and initiatives designed to support tenants
Tenant support
Rolling out of the Housing Perks App to provide tenants and leaseholders with cost-of-living support, by offering savings with over 100 retailers that can be used to help pay rent or build up rent credit.
Renters' Right Act
Putting changes from the Renters' Rights Act in place, to improve rights for people renting privately and to make sure supported housing is delivered to a high standard.
Community engagement
Increasing opportunities for residents to get involved through community events and new digital options, helping more people, especially underrepresented groups, to have their say.
Regeneration
Working with our development partners to deliver the regeneration of Ladywood and Druids Heath, ensuring the community continues to shape and influence every stage of the process.
