Challenge the service charge

If you think repair or maintenance work isn’t being done properly, report it to us

If you think the service charge is too high, contact the home ownership team.

You have the right to:

  • ask for a summary showing how the charge is worked out and what it’s spent on
  • see any paperwork supporting the summary, such as receipts.

The council is allowed to add a management charge to the cost of services, but cannot make a profit.

If you don’t agree with our response, or if we refuse to do anything to improve the situation, you can apply to a housing tribunal to decide whether or not the services you receive are reasonable.
