Central care record and NHS

Social care and medical care records are shared between Birmingham City Council and the NHS. This allows professionals in the NHS and social care to improve services and personal data (including sensitive personal data/medical information) may be shared where necessary. This personal data is processed in the same way as all personal data held by the Council and the NHS.

All Local Authorities have a duty to improve the health of the population they serve. To help with this, we use data and information from a range of sources, such as the registration of a birth or death. This helps us understand more about the health and care needs in the area. Patients have the right to object to their data being shared.
