Childcare for families with no recourse to public funds (NRPF)

Childcare for 2 year olds

If your immigration status means you cannot claim benefits, you may still be able to get funded childcare for your 2-year-old.

Your household income after tax bust be no more than:

  • £26,500 for families outside of London with one child
  • £30,600 for families outside of London with two or more children
  • £34,500 for families within London with one child
  • £38,600 for families within London with two or more children

You cannot have more than £16,000 in savings or investments.

Let your childcare provider know that you have no recourse to public funds and they can help you with an application for childcare.

Alternatively, email earlyeducation@birmingham.gov.uk for support.

Childcare for 3 and 4 year olds

All 3 and 4 year olds are entitled to 15 hours childcare regardless of your immigration status.

Speak to your childcare provider to arrange a start date.

Free school meals

Your child is entitled to a free school meal if they:

  • are 2, 3 or 4 years old
  • are accessing a funded childcare place for more than 5 hours between 9:00am and 3:00pm

Speak to your childcare provider, or email earlyeducation@birmingham.gov.uk, for support.
