Chief officer salary disclosure and corporate structure statement

The Localism Act (2011) requires that, as a local authority, Birmingham City Council publish an annual ‘pay policy statement’ for the financial year. The statement articulates the Council's policies toward matters relating to the pay of the workforce, particularly chief officers as defined by the Act (S43) and the lowest paid employees. In doing so the statement aids transparency of the approach the Council takes in setting the pay of its employees.

The provisions of the Act do not apply to employees of the local authority schools and therefore the pay of schools based staff is not taken into account within the statement.
