Birmingham City Council is the largest local authority in the UK and as such we manage the largest domestic, commercial refuse collection and disposal operation of any local authority.

Birmingham City Council is also committed to the local community offering employment and training opportunities wherever possible, we employ around 880 members of staff in the Fleet & Waste Management Division. Our fleet consists of over 300 contemporary modern compaction vehicles and deliver services to over 8000 customer’s city wide.

We aim to provide you with a quality, reliable service at an annual fixed cost. We do not charge VAT and unlike other commercial waste providers we do not exist to make a profit from our services.

Commercial waste is governed by various legislation, including the Environment Protection Act 1990, the Packaging and Waste Regulation 1997, the Animal By-Products Regulations 2005, Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005 and Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment 2007.
