Health and social care research approval (research governance)

Research governance is the process of checking research proposals to make sure they are:

  • ethical
  • of good standard
  • protecting the rights, dignity and safety of the people taking part

You must have research governance approval from us if you want to carry out research with our service users, staff, carers or data we hold about them, even if you’ve already been through the process with another organisation.

This applies to research involving any of the following services:

  • ​Adult Social Care Services
  • The Public Health team
