Where to leave your bins for collection

Put your bins out at the front of your home for collection unless we have told you a different collection point.

After your bin has been emptied, return it to your property. Bins should not be left on the street.

If no one in your household can move your bin, you can apply for assisted collection.

When to put your bins out for collection

  • Put your bin out before 5:30am on the day it is collected
  • Bring your bin back to your property by midday (12:00pm) the day after it is collected
  • Do not put your bin out before 3:30pm the day before collection.

Check your collection day

If your bin is not put out correctly

If your bin is not in the right place or not out at the right time, we may not collect it.

If bins are left on the street or not placed correctly for collection, we may need to take action.

If we send you a Notice of Intent and the problem is not fixed, you may get a £60 fine. We may also remove your bin.

If your bin is missing or damaged

If your bin is lost, stolen or damaged you can request a replacement.

You will need to sign in or sign up for a BRUM Account to do this.

If your bin or caddy was not collected

If your bin or caddy was not emptied, it may be because it contained items that should not have been placed in it.

We visually check bins and caddies when we come to collect them. We will leave a tag explaining why the bin was not emptied. This tag will tell you what can and cannot go into the bin.

If your bin has a tag on it, you will need to:

  • remove the incorrect items
  • put the bin out on your next collection day

We cannot come back to empty contaminated bins or caddies after the collection has taken place.

If there is no tag

If your bin or caddy was not collected, and we did not leave a tag, you can report a missed collection.

Leave it out and we will collect it as soon as we can.
