Your recycling bins and collection

Your recycling will be collected every 2 weeks.

You will have a bin with a:

  • blue lid for glass, plastic and metal
  • green lid for paper and cardboard

What you can put in your recycling bins

Most households will get new recycling bins with green lids to replace their current recycling pods.

If your property does not have space for bins, we will give you recycling sacks instead. The sacks can take the same items for recycling and will be collected in the same way.

If you still have recycling boxes you can put these out and we will collect.

Blue lid

In your bin with the blue lid we can collect:

  • plastic milk and water bottles with lids
  • household plastic bottles
  • yoghurt pots, empty food tubs
  • raw meat trays
  • aerosol cans
  • clean foil and foil trays
  • aluminium drinks cans and food tins
  • glass bottles
  • empty glass jars
  • food and drink cartons (TetraPak or similar)
  • plant pots (except for black plant pots)

Green lid

In your bin with the green lid we can collect:

  • cardboard boxes and packaging
  • cereal boxes and food boxes
  • empty toilet roll tubes
  • newspapers and magazines
  • egg boxes
  • junk mail, envelopes and office paper

Card and paper should be clean and dry before you put it in the bin.

Items you can not put in your bins

Do not put any of these items in your recycling bins:

  • food waste - put this in your brown caddy
  • garden waste
  • batteries
  • nappies
  • greasy food boxes or pizza boxes
  • coat hangers
  • light bulbs
  • drinking glasses or cookware
  • paint tins
  • black food trays or hard plastic
  • textiles, clothes or shoes
  • vapes
  • gas bottles or canisters
  • electrical items
  • black plant pots

You can find local recycling points on Recycle Now or book an appointment at a household recycling centre.

Stickers for your bin

Your new bins and caddies will be delivered with stickers that you can attach to them.

The stickers will tell you what you can put in that bin.
