Next steps

We will submit the Publication Plan to the Planning Inspectorate by December 2026.

We expect it to be examined by a Planning Inspector in early 2027.

We will publish regular updates on its progress.

Timetable for the Birmingham Local Plan

The Local Development Scheme (LDS) sets out the timetable for producing the Birmingham Local Plan.

A revised Local Development Scheme, setting out the key milestones in the preparation of the plan, came into effect on 28 January 2025.
