We are about to start the rollout of sprinklers to all of our high rise tower blocks across Birmingham. This major programme of work, which will take around three years to complete, is part of our commitment to providing you with the highest levels of safety and will add to the robust fire safety measures already in place.
We have been working closely with our partners, West Midlands Fire Service, the City Housing Liaison Board and our repairs and maintenance contractors to plan the programme of work, which will take place on a block by block basis. We want you to be involved in the process as much as possible. So, in the weeks prior to work starting in your block you will be invited to an Information Event where you will have the opportunity to ask questions and find out more about the installation process.
The sprinkler installation programme is a three year programme. The below lists detail the indicative year that each block is due to have sprinklers installed. Please note this information is subject to change:
- Year 1 - Sheltered High Rise Blocks and Blocks where work was already being carried out.
- Year 2 - Blocks with 14 or more stories and blocks 10-14 stories with single staircase.
- Year 3 - Blocks 10-14 stories with double staircase and blocks under 10 stories.
The addresses are not in the order of installation other than annual allocation. The local delivery teams will advise actual installation dates prior to work starting on each block
