This is a fixed term post to the end of August 2023.

JOB PURPOSE:

• To lead on the development of new services for children and young people aged 0-18 in the Springfield area
• To liaise with key stakeholders to shape and design new service provision, promoting and encouraging the voices of children and young people as our primary stakeholders
• To devise a project plan for future service delivery and agree priorities and strategy for fundraising
• To coordinate high quality play activities to children age 5 – 11, offering a range of activities suitable for children with different interests and needs.
• To coordinate a team of Playworkers and Playleaders to plan, deliver and review play provision.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Children and Young People’s Development Worker
• To lead on the development of new services for children and young people in the local area
• To work closely with colleagues in Springfield Children’s Centre, Mini-Springers Nursery, Park Road Nursery and Seedlings to identify potential new activities for children under 5 and their families.
• To work closely with the casual playwork team to review and develop the existing service for children aged 5-11.
• To liaise with local primary schools and other partner organisations to explore the needs of children aged 5 – 11 in our community, and establish partnership working.
• To work creatively with children to understand their wishes and feelings and ensure that they are involved in shaping new and existing services.
• To develop project proposals for new services for children aged 5 – 11.
• To liaise with local secondary schools and other partner organisations to explore the needs of young people aged 11-18 in our community, and establish partnership working.

Play Coordinator
• To coordinate a team of sessional Playworkers and Playleaders to provide holiday playschemes for children aged 5 - 11 at The Springfield Centre and Park Road Nursery.
• To lead the provision of new play services for children aged 5 – 11.
• To lead the provision of Forest School activities.
• To work closely with the CEO to support the delivery of the annual Creative Families Festival, including the ambitious proposals for 2022, linking the festival to the Commonwealth Games.
• To lead the provision of the annual Santa Comes to Springfield event.
• To develop and coordinate activities under ‘Springfield Explorers’ including regular trips for families.
• To ensure that children and their families have the opportunity to help shape the service.
• Support and prioritise the physical and emotional safety and wellbeing of children at all times.
• To ensure a warm, welcoming and inclusive play environment where individuals are valued and appropriate adaptations are made to maximise all children’s engagement with play.
• To promote and celebrate a culture of ‘No Outsiders’ where there is open discussion of issues of diversity, equality and inclusivity.
• To put into practice the agreed policies and procedures of the organisation in order that legal, regulatory and quality standards are met.
