Steven's Bar

Stevens bar photograph

Steven's Bar was at the corner of High Street (no.80) and New Street (no.140). Steven's Bar was reportedly opened by licensee Richard Marsh Williams in 1916, and the establishment was well known for its atmosphere.

In 1941 the building was damaged during an air raid, but the ground floor bar continued to operate until Steven's Bar finally closed its doors on 25 March 1958.

In the photograph can be seen the large illuminating M&B sign on the New Street side of the building, and also on this side the Swan Hotel which was adjacent to Steven's Bar.

Photographed on 4 September 1932 by William A Clark as part of the Warwickshire Photographic Survey.
