Nancy's Letter

The little letter Nancy wrote
To Santa Claus one day,
Was but a pencil scribble, scrawled
In just a baby's way.

And when to post their Christmas cards
The children gaily ran,
As she was not quite tall enough
May lifted little Nan.

And so the child slipped in her note
Along with all the rest,
The funny little scribble-scrawl
To Santa Claus address'd.

No stamp was on the envelope;
But postmen understand,
And send such letters by the mail
That goes to Fairyland.

And Santa Claus of course received
Wee Nancy's note to him,
For both her stockings Christmas morn
Were filled up to the brim! (Constance M. Lowe)
