Improve Customer Care
To co-ordinate our services, a Markets Customer Centre has been established within the Bull Ring Rag Market.
Our Customer Care Centre has a dual function of providing information and guidance to the residents/visitors to the city, and to support the disabled. As a result, we have introduced the following:
- All staff are trained in first aid
- Public transport helpline
- Trading Standards information and contact
On a normal trading day, events involving lost children, customer disputes, lost property amongst other things that relate to a busy city centre are dealt with as a matter of routine.
Baby Changing Facilities:- This facility is located at the side of the Bull Ring Rag Market where parents can attend to their child's needs. Keys for this facility can be obtained from the Markets Customer Centre.
Wheelchair, pram and pushchair access:- Automatic doors on Edgbaston Street entrances to Rag Market and Indoor Market Hall to assist wheelchair users and parents with prams/pushchairs.
Registered Assistance Dogs:- Registered guide, hearing and assistance dogs are welcome on all our markets.
Educating local children and adults
We conduct educational tours of the Market for primary school children as young as 10, BTEC students at secondary school and graduates undertaking business degrees at the University of Birmingham, all of whom get an opportunity to work on a stall alongside a trader.
Support low income families and mothers-to-be
The market fully supports the Government and NHS "Healthy Start Scheme" having registered as early as 2006, this allows the market to meet its social commitment and work in harmony with political agendas by accepting the vouchers supplied to mothers-to-be in exchange for fresh milk, fruit, and vegetables.
