How to use Park and Pay by Phone Service


As from 27th January 2012 drivers who use their mobile phone to pay for parking in pay and display spaces both On Street and in Car Parks in Birmingham will need to register with the City Council’s new service provider Parkmobile. The service is currently provided by Pay By Phone (formerly Verrus) and their service will cease when the Parkmobile service commences.

Existing users of the present service are encouraged to register with Parkmobile NOW as this will save you valuable time when you first park when the new service goes live with Parkmobile.

The service is open to anyone who needs to pay to park in Birmingham.

You can still pay by cash if you wish - the pay and display machines will continue to operate.


Motorists need to register their details with our new provider Parkmobile either by phone 020 3003 2527, online at www.parkmobile.co.uk. or by using a Parkmobile App (free to download). Registering can be done in advance or at the time you park and will take a few minutes (paying for your parking session will be considerably quicker if you have already registered). When you register you will be asked for your credit or debit card details and your vehicle registration number (you can register more than one vehicle and select the correct vehicle when you park).

Paying to park:

When you arrive at a parking space call the cashless parking number on your phone - 020 3003 2527 or use the Parkmobile App (free to download) to pay for your parking session.

If you have already registered you don't need to speak - just key in the location number of the space where you are parking when prompted. The location number will be clearly displayed on notices on the Pay and Display machines. In car parks, the Location Number will be shown on signs as well. You will then be asked to key in the period you would like to park for, this is subject to the maximum period permitted (see signs relevant to the space you are in). Please also have the Credit or Debit card handy that you used when you first registered.

With cashless parking, you can also choose to have reminder texts sent to you to remind you when your parking session is about to expire. You can also extend your parking session without needing to return to your vehicle but only to the maximum duration permitted (check the Council’s parking signs for maximum duration).

Please note: customers should not rely solely on the reminder service to remind them when their parking time will expire. The delivery of text messages will be subject to the speed and availability of the customer's mobile phone service provider.

If you are not sure your payment has been accepted, call 020 3003 2527. If your payment has been accepted you will be told the time that your parking will end. If the payment has not been accepted you will be guided through the process to pay.

Please note: you may receive a Penalty Charge Notice if you leave your vehicle without confirming the payment has been accepted.
