Appointee and Court Deputy
The Appointee and Court Deputy Service can look after the finances of someone who does not have anyone to do this for them and finds it difficult to manage their own financial affairs because, for example, of dementia, learning disability or mental illness. Their GP or consultant must provide medical evidence to confirm they lack the mental capacity to manage their own financial affairs.
As Appointee, we will arrange to receive their income from the Department of Work and Pensions (https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/department-for-work-pensions) and pay their bills on their behalf. If the person has capital and / or owns their own home, we will apply to the Court of Protection (http://www.justice.gov.uk/courts/rcj-rolls-building/court-of-protection) also to act as Court Deputy to enable us to pay their bills and deal with any other matters relating to finance and property.
