Fundraising

What a great year we’ve had!

We are celebrating a year of fundraising that has seen more than £1,603 donated to charity. We have rounded off a year of fundraising activities with a colourful Christmas Jumper Day as staff at Head Office prepare to leave for their festive break, taking the fundraising total to £1,778.

Our motto is: “It’s about the kids” and as well as providing 70,000 school meals across Birmingham each day, we have raised funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital through a range of activities.”

From food festive fun like last week’s Christmas jumper day to food-filled fundraisers like Pizza Friday and some more adventurous activities including obstacle races and a terrifying 100ft abseil in Birmingham’s Brindley Place, staff from across the organisation have taken part in events to raise money for our chosen cause.

On top of this, we have also held a Macmillan Coffee morning and bake off at our headquarters, as well as donating ingredients to kitchen teams in some of our schools to allow them to host their own cake sale to raise cash for the cause.

Dale Wild, Cityserve’s Head of Service, said: “It’s been a great year for Cityserve for all sorts of reasons, but one of our key aims is to make a difference to our stakeholders – the children and families who are ultimately our customers. To see the Cityserve ethos be embraced by our staff, with so many going the extra mile, is great and what we are all about. I’m delighted we’ve managed to raise so much to help Birmingham Children’s Hospital and other great causes and we look forward to more fundraising in 2018.”

The fundraising rounds off a successful year for us here at Cityserve, which saw us retain our position as the Best Catering Service Team at the APSE (Association for Public Service Excellence) Awards 2017, as well as scooping Best Service Team in the UK at the The ‘MJ’ (Management Journal) Awards.

This year has also seen the launch of  our new service, Cityserve Select, as well as the launch of the brand new Learning and Development Centre, which is set to become a hub for training for catering staff from schools across the city as well as other organisations from across the region and beyond.

Dale added: “We rounded off the year by hosting three regional finals of the School Chef of the Year Competition, championing some of the best in the business when it comes to providing great food for schools. We’ve got plenty more planned for 2018 and cannot wait to get cracking.”
