What is the Family Common Assessment Framework (fCAF)?

Sometimes the support that children and parents (families) need comes from a range of different organisations, all working together. The Family Common Assessment Framework (fCAF) is a standard process that these organisations can use to find out what needs people have and then agree the best way to work together to support them.

Their needs may be in one or more of the following areas:

  • Growth and development
  • Education
  • Family and environmental issues
  • Any specific needs of the parent/carer.

If families do need extra help, the organisations supporting them can use the Framework to make a note of the help they need and then work together to make sure they get it.
