What's New Bulletin 212 - 29 August 2024

1. REMINDER – Workshops on 4 September, for care providers recently awarded the Home Support 2024 contract (information for all providers holding the Home Support 2024 contract)

We are arranging 2 Workshops on the 4 September 2024 for successful providers who have joined the Birmingham City Council’s Framework for Domiciliary/Home Support.

The 1st workshop in the morning will be from 10 am to midday. This is primarily for new providers who have not previously been on the Council’s Home Support Framework. The workshop will provide an opportunity for providers to be informed about how care provision is commissioned by the Council under the Home Support Framework. This will include the workings of the CareMatch Portal system and where Care Providers have been allocated their Geographical Areas across the City.

2. World Alzheimers Month – September 2024 (for the attention of all care providers)

The theme for World Alzheimers Month 2024 is 'Time to act on dementia, Time to act on Alzheimers'. Throughout September, various events, activities, and initiatives will take place mark World Alzheimer's Month. The key aims of this year’s campaign is to raise awareness and challenge stigma surrounding Alzheimer's and dementia.

6. REMINDER :Birmingham and Solihull Nurses and Clincal Leads Network for Nurses working in social care 5 September 2024 (information for care homes with nursing in Birmingham and Solihull)

The network is a unique platform that brings together nurses working in social care across Birmingham and Solihull, providing a valuable opportunity for nurses to connect, share ideas and knowledge, and receive support and guidance from peers.

In addition to providing a space for peer-to-peer support and best practice sharing, our forum offers both national and regional updates, ensuring nurses stay up-to-date with the latest developments.

The network also provides a platform for Continuing Professional Development (CPD), helping our members to enhance their skills, knowledge, and expertise, and take their careers to the next level.

7. Support to Care Homes Training September 2024 (information for care homes in Birmingham and Solihull)

This includes details of the Support to Care Homes Team virtual training for all Care Home staff  across Birmingham and Solihull Care homes

There are valuable informative training sessions this month on

  • Dementia awareness

The training will be hosted by the Solihull Support to Care homes Team and is open to all Care Home staff across Birmingham and Solihull care homes and joining details can be accessed via the BSol Healthzone Care Home App.
