Update for schools: 22 February 2021

This update includes information about secondary offer day next week and the free school meal vouchers for half-term as well as advice about submitting referrals to Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

Full return of schools

We are considering the information that has been published today by the government about the return of all pupils in all schools from 8th March. Officers are updating our risk assessment template to support schools to plan for reopening and making arrangements for a webinar. We will provide this risk assessment and details of the webinar as soon as possible.

Secondary school offer day: Monday 1st March

In advance of secondary offer day next Monday, we will be sending information tomorrow to families of Year 6 pupils who applied on time, explaining the process for them receiving their offers. This information is set out on the council’s website at https://www.birmingham.gov.uk/Year_7_offer_day

Offer emails will be sent on Monday 1 March 2021, and we expect that families will receive their email by 4pm. The exact time will depend on email service providers. Families will also receive their child's offer by letter from 2 March 2021. Families only need to contact School Admissions if they are refusing the offer. If families do not contact us to refuse the offer by 15th March, the offer will be accepted.

Free school meal vouchers for February half-term

Before half-term we informed schools that increased numbers of eligible children had meant that a small number of schools had requested additional vouchers that would be available to schools immediately following the holiday. We have now allocated and uploaded all the additional voucher codes for the schools to access. Any schools who have queries about their allocation of half-term vouchers should email educationdata@birmingham.gov.uk

Referrals to Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has a range of services for children, young people and families. Please note, that from 28 February, no POSTAL referrals will be accepted for any children and families services. Referrals will only be accepted using the updated referral form which you can download as either an editable PDF, or a Word document from this web page.

The first section is for the details of the individual child / young person. Following this you can navigate to the particular service/s you need to make a referral for. The email address you need to use for a referral is at the bottom of each service section.
